  Rustam Najafov: ‘Shahdag Will Host a World Championship’

‘All the work carried out in Shahdag throughout 2025 is the result of to state support and strong teamwork. Our plans envisage even larger-scale projects for 2026. During 2025, Shahdag Resort hosted six local and international competitions. As part of the 2026 winter season, we are planning a total of 22 events – including competitions, concert programs, and various entertainment projects,’ said Rustam Najafov, Chairman of Shahdag Mountain Resort, operating under the State Tourism Agency (STA), during a two-day media tour organized to launch the opening of the winter season, AzVision.az reports.

Najafov added that in March 2026, Azerbaijan will host the final stage of the Moguls World Cup organized by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) for the first time.

‘The competition will be broadcast live on at least 10 television channels worldwide. Nearly 2,000 guests are expected to visit Shahdag. Additional entertainment events will be organized to make the competition even more memorable,’ he promised.

The chairman emphasized that Shahdag will host the European Skiing Championship during the upcoming winter season, while the World Championship is scheduled to take place there in 2027.

‘Shahdag’s infrastructure and capabilities have been fully recognized by international federations as suitable for hosting these competitions,’ Najafov concluded.
