Iran`s iron ore concentrate production up 12%
Iranian state-run and private iron ore concentrate production companies produced 24 million tons of iron ore concentrate in the past Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20.

The figure shows 12 percent rise compared to the year which ended in March 2013, Iran`s Mehr news agency reported on May 3.

Some 20.5 million tons of steel pellets were also produced in the country last year, showing 12 percent rise year on year.
Iran exported 20 million tons of iron ore in the calendar year, which ended March 20, 2013.

Iranian officials say the country`s domestic need for steel production units caused a sharp decline in the country`s iron ore exports last year.

China, Russia and Kazakhstan are among the few trade allies still providing a lifeline to Iran`s vital steel and iron ore sector after most Western suppliers and buyers have cut ties due to growing sanctions pressure, Reuters reported in May 2013.
