Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states discuss energy strategies
The Kazakh city of Aktau has hosted the 5th International Conference "Caspian paradigm/ SCO Energy Forum" under the auspices of the Business Club of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The conference brings together industry executives, scientists, politicians, experts and representatives of government bodies, businesses and non-governmental organizations to discuss a variety of issues, including national energy strategies of SCO, international projects in the field of traditional and alternative energy sources.

Opening the event, department head at SCO Business Club Igor Kolesov stressed the importance of the conference in terms of “building dialogue and discussing bilateral and multilateral cooperation”.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Nationality Affairs Gadzhimet Safaraliyev expressed confidence the conference will contribute to the development of cooperation between SCO member states.

Other speakers hailed the importance of the Caspian Sea resources in terms of ensuring energy security of many countries.

Participants also discussed prospects for tourism, transport and humanitarian cooperation.
