Iranian President Rouhani to meet Pope Francis
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is expected to meet Pope Francis as part of his upcoming European tour.
Heading a high ranking delegation, President Rouhani will leave Tehran for Rome Nov. 14 at the invitation of his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, IRNA news agency reported.

President Rouhani will meet with a group of Italian investors and industrialists during the visit.

On Nov. 16 Rouhani is scheduled to address the Leaders’ Forum in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

This will be his first Europe trip as Iranian president since he took office in 2013.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries agreed on July 14 to implement the JCPOA to curb Tehran’s nuclear program, in exchange for the lifting of most international sanctions.

After signing the deal several European companies have expressed interest in cooperation with Iran.

According to the JCPOA, clinched between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries, Tehran is committed to reducing the number of centrifuges.
