Construction of TANAP
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will complete the welding work on the 50 kilometers long section of the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) by late 2015, the company
He said all the tender procedures on constructing the 1,337 kilometers long section of the pipeline have been completed and the construction work has already started.

“Welding work is underway on all sections of the pipeline,” said Abdullayev, adding that the work is on schedule and TANAP will be ready to supply gas in the first half of 2018.

The contractors for constructing TANAP’s 1,337 kilometers long onshore section are: Fernas Insaat A.S., Sicim-Yuksel-AKKORD Adi Ortakligi and TEKFEN Insaat ve Tesisat A.S. These companies will build the pipeline’s section running up to the city of Eskisehir.

TANAP project envisages transportation of gas of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field from Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey.

The initial capacity of TANAP pipeline is expected to reach 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Around six billion cubic meters of this gas will be delivered to Turkey and the remaining volume will be supplied to Europe.

Turkey will get gas in 2018 and after completing the construction of Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), it will be delivered to Europe in early 2020.

BP became one of the shareholders of the pipeline in accordance with the agreement signed with the TANAP consortium in April,

Currently, the shareholders of TANAP are: the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) – 58 percent, Botas – 30 percent and BP – 12 percent.
