The rally organizers have deviated from the route presented by them and taken into account, moving across Melik-Adamyan street and blocking the traffic of the adjacent Hanrapetutyan street, substantiating their actions by “walking freely in our city” and similar justifications.

The Armenian police once again urged the rally organizers, specifically Raffi Hovannisian and Jirayr Sefilian, to sober up, demanding them to refrain from creating situations threatening the safety of the rally participants and police officers during such crowded events.

“The rally organizers will hold the full responsibility for the consequences emerged as a result of such actions,” the statement reads.

Scuffle took place between the Armenian police and participants of the march of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front struggling against the constitutional amendments in Yerevan.

The march participants are trying to approach the Headquarters of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), but the police have blocked the access to the building by a human chain. New police forces are approaching the RPA Headquarters. The situation is tense, as reported by Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

The leader of opposition “Heritage” party Raffi Hovannisian is holing a bouquet of flowers in his hands, which he is trying to lay at the RPA Headquarters.

The actions of the police are managed by the Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan.

Following nearly 20-minute discussion, the representatives of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front have decided to return to the Republic Square via the Hanrapetutyan Street. But the police don’t allow the protestors to take with them their car, in which the loudspeakers and the posters installed on wheels are placed.

The protestors keep staying in Hanrapetutyan Street. They are demanding from the police to let the participants of the authorized rally move forward.

Head of the “United Opposition Headquarters” Jirayr Sefilian climbed the car and urged everyone to stay where they are, announcing that they will continue the protest there unless the police allow the car to move.

“Heritage” party leader Raffi Hovannisian is still holding in his hands a bouquet, which he has decided to lay at the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) headquarters, following which the scuffle with the police started.

After staying in Yerevan’s Hanrapetutyan Street for about two hours and making futile attempts to take out the loudspeakers from their car, the participants of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front, struggling against the constitutional amendments, decided to leave the car with the loudspeakers in Hanrapetutyan Street and continue their march.

Nevertheless, a group of protesters continues to stay by the car, which is surrounded by the police. The police also keep surrounding the Headquarters of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Government building.
