Around 100 Russian residents willing to join IS detained in Turkey
Some 98 Russian citizens were detained in Turkey during the year, who had intended to join the militants of the IS terrorist group (ISIL, ISIS or Daesh), in Syria, reported the General Staff of Turkey.
All Russian citizens were deported from the country.

Meanwhile, another 324 Chinese citizens, 57 Afghan citizens and 17 French citizens also got detained, attempting to join the IS.

Turkish police regularly raids the border provinces of Syria to prevent the entry of radicals to this country.

According to the UN, the armed conflict, victims of which were more than 220 thousand people continues in Syria since March 2011. Government troops confront militias belonging to various armed groups. The most active fighters are from the extremist groups of "Islamic state" and "Al-Nusra Dzhebhat".
