Azerbaijani MP raises objection to OSCE MG co-chairs
In their latest statement the OSCE co-chairs monopolised the negotiation process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as if no one is able to solve or even discuss the conflict, the Head of Political analysis and Forecasting Department of Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party, MP Aydin Mirzazadeh told AzVision.az.

Azerbaijani MP stressed, the society is surprised by the latest statement of the OSCE: `Actually, the statement made by the OSCE co-chairs was not aimed at solving Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. If the co-chairs achieved any positive result over the conflict, Azerbaijani community would allow them to take the full control of the solution process. The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988, but there is no results or any progress.`

Though Azerbaijani lands are still under Armenian occupation, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries do not recognize Armenia as an invader, MP said. On one hand, they do not fully support the peaceful solution of the problem, on the other hand, an objective approach of other international organizations to the conflict’s solution, irritates OSCE co-chairs as well.

`They claim that, any initiatives or discussions by other institutions might hinder the negotiation process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. How can calling an invader by its name and obeying international law norms be considered as an obstacle for the peaceful solution of the problem? Of course, such an approachment by the co-chairs, raises a discontent among the Azerbaijani society. The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijani Republic has expressed its position over the issue. The responsible public figures express their protest. We would like the OSCE MG co-chairs to fulfill their responsibilities and not to reject any external supports. Co-chairs’ statement shows their pro-Armenian position and contradicts international law and ethics of modern diplomacy,` Mirzazadeh said.

Note, the joint statement made by the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group – Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, James Warlick of the United States of America, and Pierre Andrieu of France covers that the OSCE Minsk Group is the only internationally authorized format of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.
