The organization has been called ANCA since 1941. Prior to 1941, it was called as the American Committee for the Independence of Armenia (ACIA). The instruction-type article titled “Support anti-Azerbaijan sanctions” is published in the official website of the ANCA. The instruction- article calls upon support for unfounded and absurd anti-Azerbaijan resolution by Chris Smith, pro-Armenian member of the US House of Representatives for New Jersey and a chairman of Helsinki commission. Additionally, Armenians in the USA were asked to send a letter of insistence to the congressmen for supporting the project.
Interestingly, the promotion of the Armenian issue and the resolution project related Armenia were not found during the operation of the ANCA. So, what is ANCA, which is less known in Azerbaijani society and Mass Media?
ANCA is the most famous and powerful organization of hundreds of organizations, founded by Armenian diaspora and have close links with Armenians. The main aim of the organization is to run anti-Azerbaijan and anti-Turkey activities in terms of crimes. The terror activities of the organization leaders and their support for terror were confirmed for several times. However, the strong relations with those criminals are not broken off.
Let’s go back to the history: in 1982, five Armenian members of “Fair fighters of Armenian Genocide” known as “La Five” and terror group of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation were jailed for attempting to explode the Turkish General Consulate in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. ANCA didn’t break off the relations with the criminals by financing and exalting them to the eminent stations, although their crimes were fully confirmed and they were jailed. Karnig Sarkissian, Viken Yacoubian, Viken Hovsepian, Dikran Sarkis Berberian and Steven John Dadaian were jailed in 1982.
In this regard,
- Currently, Dadayan has been a consultant and treasurer of the ANCA Western region since 2012.
- Hovsepian and Yacoubian are the Council members of the Armenian Cultural Foundation of Western USA. In 2012, ANCA Donation Fond granted 200000 dollars to the foundation. Additionally, Yacoubian was elected a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau:
- Currently, Hovsepian’s wife, Nora is a president of the ANCA Western region and Topalian is a consultant of the organizing committee.
Afterwards, in 1989, US officials approved that Murat Topalian, the chairman of ANCA helped the “La Five” group and participated in the organization of the terror attacks such as blasts in New York, Anaheim, California and Beverly Hills. Moreover, US officials confirmed that Murat Topalian participated in the robbery at armament plants and illegal trafficking of weapons.
Topalian also transformed the Hayastan camp of the Armenian Youth Federation, situated in Franklin and Massachusetts into training place for terrorists and organized attacks against Turkish officials by using different weapons and explosive materials.
In 2001, a great number of weapons and explosive materials was found in Topalian’s home in terms of investigations. Then he was jailed for three years. However, ANCA accused FBI of detaining the members of “La Five” group. Furthermore, ANCA evaluated the detention of the members as “disgusting action by Turks against Armenians”.
Then ANCA started different social support campaigns to free Topalian. Moreover, the department of the ANCA Western Region evaluated the detention of Topalian as “Cruel application of justice for Armenian nation” and awarded him. At the same time, ANCA has close relations with Armenia Revolutionary Federation (ARF) which is anti-America organization and uses all means to reach its aims.
ANCA that has headquarter in Washington and is the main Armenian influential organization has strong links with anti-capitalist and revolutionary socialist Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF);
- The headquarter of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) for Eastern USA and ANCA Eastern Region Donation Fond are situated in the same building;
- Each member of ARF for Eastern Region Central Committee is a member of ANCA Eastern Region Contribution Fond Board of Directors;
- Richard Sarajian, the chairman of ARF for Eastern Region Central Committee was a member of ANCA Board of Directors up to now. He calls these two institutions as “brother organizations”;
- George Aghjayan, a former ANCA board member was also a member of ARF Central-Eastern Regional Committee.
ANCA was registered as a lobby organization neither at Senate nor at the White House. However, ANCA runs continuous lobbyism activities on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, “Armenian genocide” and the appointment of the US ambassador to Azerbaijan. The organizations also finance educational projects and provide scholarships. ANCA spent 199.580 dollars in 2013, 176.283 dollars in 2012 and 165.899 dollars in 2011 to provide activists and people are involved in foreign policy with “news and analysis” in regard with Nagorno Karabakh conflict and related issues within “Community Aid Programme”. Clearly, ANCA cooperates with both officials and criminals.
Sergei Sarkisov: Sergei Sarkisov, appointed as Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles invested in mountain-mining industry in Nagorno-Karabakh. He has an estimated net worth of $ 1.1 billion. Additionally, he invested in the discovery of gold and copper fields in Nagorno-Karabakh. He is a founder of RESO-Garantia, Russian Insurance company.
Armen Kazarian: He is a main donor of ANCA who is called Godfather of Armenian mafia. The members of the Armenian-American organized crime group of 73 people run by Armen Kazarian defrauded insurance companies by submitting counterfeit health insurance banknotes in an amount totalling $163 million. The crime was verified by investigation bodies.
Kirk Kerkorian: 97 years old Kirk has a an estimated net worth of $ 4 billions. He spent more than $1 billion for Armenian issues up to know. Currently, he finances a movie about Armenian Genocide.
Frank Melkonian: he is one of the people who finance the purchase of 4-storey new headquarter of ANCA in Washington.
Above mentioned facts comprise a small part of activities of Armenian diaspora in the USA. Armenian diaspora is a strong and organized institution and commits both lobbyism and criminal activities in the most world countries. In this regard, it is possible to say that the operation of Azerbaijani diplomatic agencies and consulates in foreign countries is very responsible and difficult.
