Afterwards, officials of the two countries’ ministries in charge of international cooperation issues signed a military cooperation program for 2016.
The main guidelines of this year’s cooperation program is exchange of experience in the areas of peacekeeping, military training, specialized retraining and strategic planning spheres.
The official reception of the Georgian delegation at Armenia’s Defense Ministry ended in a joint press conference of Ohanyan and Khidasheli.
While in Armenia, the Georgian defense minister is also scheduled to meet with President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian as well as Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
Georgia strives for membership in NATO. Armenia is a member of the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization.
