Spring into it: the best new hair, makeup and nail trends for spring/summer 2016
Get your beauty regime sorted for the season with the best of the spring trends. Whether it
MAKEUP:

Good news for fans of bold lippie: the focus has shifted from contoured complexions and heavily pencilled brows, back to the lips. Bright pouts were everywhere; from an oxblood red at Burberry to bright tomato shades at Céline.

That’s not all – for many, blue eyeshadow recalls the earliest and perhaps most ill-advised forays into the world of beauty, but this season it has appeared on many a catwalk, from Chanel to Marc Jacobs. A subtle slick of dark blue eyeliner is a far more subtle way to get the look.

NAILS:

After several seasons of weird and wonderful manicures, for spring there’s an au naturel approach to nails… well, almost. Nearly-nude nail looks were seen at Elie Saab, Emilio Pucci and Roksanda. While the look may be natural, that doesn’t mean it’s time to forgo the polish altogether; the emphasis is on creating a simple, clean look.

Recreate Elie Saab’s version with MAC’s lacquer in a soft shade of pink, aptly name Delicate. For more variety, pastel shades will give a slight variation on the barely-there look.

HAIR:

The quest for the perfect beachy wave may finally be over thanks to a far more simplistic take on hair for the new season. A ponytail might be something you’ve been sporting since before you could pick up a brush but the ubiquitous style is enjoying a revival.

At Oscar de la Renta, hair was pulled back into a low pony with a simple ribbon tie. “It’s amazing how effective a ponytail can still look today, and how a beautiful, simple style can say so much,” explained Guido, the hair stylist who created the look.
