Nikolai Bordyuzha gives harsh response to Armenian journalist
Escalation of the tension in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border is inadmissible, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
He made the remarks at a press conference on Friday.

Answering the Armenian journalist’s question “Serzh Sargsyan said that fire opened by Azerbaijani armed forces from large-caliber weapons targets all CSTO member states. Why doesn’t CSTO express attitude towards this? Isn’t it damaging the image of the organization?”, Bordyuzha said. “The CSTO has repeatedly issued statements on the aggravation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. I expressed my opinion to the Armenian authorities during my recent visit to Yerevan. Recent statements of the CSTO include provisions on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. You are either not seeing it, or doing it deliberately. I reiterate that the escalation of the tension on Azerbaijani-Armenian border is inadmissible. So I don’t think it harms the image of the CSTO.”

Bordyuzha said there is no need for the CSTO to change its position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a very sensitive issue. The CSTO isn’t involved in the settlement process. The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the settlement of the conflict. Our position is clear. This position is the position of all the CSTO member states. This position is that there is no military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it should be solved peacefully. The CSTO are against the use of large-caliber weapons in the region,” he stressed.
