Armenia`s crime rate increases in first quarter of 2013
The number of crimes in Armenia has increased in the first quarter of this year.
A total of 4,322 crimes were recorded in this period, as compared to 3,968 the crimes in the first quarter of the year past, Police News Department informs.

A total of 2,171 minor offenses were registered in the first quarter of 2013, against the 2,032 such misdemeanors in the same time period last year.

The medium-gravity crimes, on the other hand, increased by a mere four, and totaled 1,374.

But the number serious offenses sharply increased, with 746 such cases recorded in the first quarter of this year, as compared to 526 felonies, in the same time period last year.

Yet a reduction was recorded in the most serious crimes, with 31 cases, against 40 such incidents in the first quarter of 2012.

In the aforesaid reporting period, 2,280 incidents were recorded in capital city Yerevan, as compared to 2,103 such cases in the year past.
