FIG tournament serious preparation for Rio Olympics test events
All the necessary conditions have been created for athletes at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, says a female gymnastics champion.
“The National Gymnastics Arena is just wonderful. All the conditions for the competition have been created here,” Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina, who is three-time world champion and European champion in women`s gymnastics, told Feb. 18.

Chusovitina is the only female gymnast in the world who has participated in six Olympic Games.

“It is my first time in Baku, and I am very glad that competitions of such a level are held here,” she said. “I have always wanted to visit Baku, because I was told a lot about your city.”

“I have liked everything very much so far,” she added.

Chusovitina went on to say she sees the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics in Baku as a serious preparation for the test events of the Rio 2016 Olympics.

“My goal is to take part in the Rio Olympics, and I purposefully go towards that goal,” she added.

The FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics will be held in Baku from Feb. 19 through Feb. 21.

The National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, as well as the relevant services of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) will receive guests from 19 countries coming to Azerbaijan for this major gymnastics event.

The FIG World Challenge Cup is an important event for the world gymnastics, and will be in the limelight of local and foreign mass media.
