British bacon sandwich en route to ISS tastes out of this World
Forget zero-calories, it`s all about zero-gravity when it comes to the latest food revolution on Earth. British chef, Heston Blumenthal, well-known for his molecular gastronomy has teamed up with the UK Space Agency and NASA to create food for British astronaut Tim Peake.
The brief — concoct seven nostalgic British dishes that taste out of this world. The challenge — make them suitable to eat during Tim Peak`s six-month stay on the International Space Station

Classic British dishes including chicken curry, sausage and onions as well as the humble bacon sandwich were included on the menu to be served a million miles above Earth, to remind the astronaut of home.

The chef and his team spent months developing the bacon sandwich in a can — to make sure it actually tasted like bacon. Heston Blumenthal also got a taste for what its like eating in zero gravity during his mission to make food fit for the International Space Station.

And since space food usually comes in powdered form and tastes bland, the British chef`s canned bacon sandwich idea received a top star rating and thumbs up from Major Peake.
