Miracle recovery of emaciated Nigerian `witch child`
A starving Nigerian child, who was deserted by his family because they thought he was a witch, has made an astonishing recovery just two months after he was found emaciated and riddled with worms.
The boy was rescued by Anja Ringgren Loven, a Danish woman living in Africa, on January 31.

Now called Hope, the toddler’s recovery has been astounding and pictures of how he was restored to health have been posted by Ms Loven, who says he “is really enjoying life now”, Mail Online reported.

Now a chubby cheerful little child, Hope is unrecognisable from how he was found in January, when he had been living on scraps.

When she found him, Ms Loven gave him water from a bottle and, having wrapped the child in a blanket, took him to hospital.

The treatment was intensive from medicine to remove the worms to daily blood transfusions to boost the number of red blood cells in his body.

Hope’s plight, which was brought to global attention by Ms Loven, an aid worker, captured the imagination of people around the world.

In all $1 million in donations poured in to help meet the medical bills he faced.

Posting the latest pictures, she wrote: “As you can see on the pictures, Hope is really enjoying his life now having 35 new brothers and sisters who ALL take such good care of him, play with him, study with him, and make sure he is safe and is getting a lot of love.”

Hope faces more surgery, because of a genital birth defect. But Ms Loven, who founded the African Children`s Aid Education and Development Foundation, is optimistic that he will make a full recovery.
