Mubariz Gurbanli: Islamic values should be resisted and not be protected when they are lead to prejudice

The family institution is disappearing in Western countries while it is strengthening in Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli said at the conference on National-moral family values: tradition and modernity organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.

Gurbanli said that divorce rates are below in Western countries.

“If marriage rates are below and 70 percent citizens live in the civil marriage, how a family divorce can be recorded if a family is not built? Strong families are built in Azerbaijan. We must protect the Islamic traditions. However, Islamic values should be resisted and not be protected when they are outside the scope and lead to prejudice. We feel sorry when our women repeat what others do regarding the issue of hijab in other countries”, he said.
