TeliaSonera to continue investement in telecommunications sector of Azerbaijan
TeliaSonera Group intends to continue its investment in the telecommunications sector of Azerbaijan, AzVision.az reports.
The statement came from the Officer Vice President of TeliaSonera Eurasia Eric Hallberg at a press conference held in the framework of the 20th Azerbaijan International Exhibition "Telecommunications and Information Technology" BakuTel 2014.

According to him, the company will continue investing in Azercell Telecom, which belongs to TeliaSonera.

"Most of the investments will be focused on the development of mobile Internet, improving the quality of communication," E.Halberg said.

In turn, the president of Azercell Telecom Kirill Gaburich noted that so far the company`s investments in Azerbaijan`s economy exceeded AZN 1 bn.

"We will continue to invest and to do everything possible to provide our customers with the best, most high-quality communications," K.Gaburich said.

He also noted that, to date 3G network coverage provided for 60% of the territory and 60% of the population of Azerbaijan.

"In 2013, we doubled the capacity of 3G-network. At the same time, we have provided coverage of 4G network for Baku and Absheron peninsula. The regions of Azerbaijan are the next stage.

But I must say that in the regions there is a shortage of phones supporting 4G technology. Therefore, we are studying the issue. But in 2015 it is planned to deploy a 4G network in five regions of the country, including the south of the country and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic," the head of the company said.
