Azerbaijani national soccer team appoints new coach
The Croatian football manager Robert Prosinecki was approved as the head coach of the Azerbaijani national soccer (football) team by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA).
The decision to approve Prosinecki as the head coach was taken Dec. 3 by the AFFA Executive Committee. A three-year contract was signed with the new coach of the Azerbaijani national soccer team.

Prosinecki is a former player of the Croatian national soccer team. He previously coached the Serbian soccer club Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) and the Turkish club Kayserispor. He also coached the national soccer team of Croatia.

The AFFA Executive Committee Member Iskandar Javadov told reporters Dec. 3 that Prosinecki will be paid 1.2 million euros per year.

“The main objective is to achieve success in the next qualifying stage,” he said.

He also noted that Prosinecki, unlike the former head coach of Azerbaijani national soccer team Berti Vogts, will reside in Azerbaijan.
