National Gymnastics Arena in Baku can host opening ceremony of 42nd Chess Olympiad
The National Gymnastics Arena can host the opening ceremony of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad, which is to be held in Baku, the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee told on May 16.
The preparations for the opening ceremony of the World Chess Olympiad continue in Baku. Currently, the organizers are reviewing the arenas in Baku to choose a place for holding the solemn opening ceremony.

With this purpose, Mahir Mammadov, director of the Operating Committee, representatives of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and Amapola Exclusive Events LLC visited the National Gymnastics Arena, said the Operating Committee.

Mahir Mammadov noted that the National Gymnastics Arena has all conditions for organizing a solemn opening ceremony.

The arena meets the highest standards and stands out by its design, he said, adding that it has all the necessary equipment.

"We will announce the final decision in the coming days," said Mammadov. "It is highly probable that the opening ceremony will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena."
