Despite oil price decline cut down on revenues, economic reforms helped reduce serious risks
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received head of IMF mission in Azerbaijan Mohammed el Gorchi.
President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan and IMF have long-period successful cooperation.

President Aliyev highly appreciated IMF support to our country on economic development, noting that this cooperation is in a new stage.

The head of state expressed his assurance that the mission led by Mohammed el Gorchi will contribute to strengthening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and IMF and continuation of necessary reforms.

“Despite oil price decline has cut down on the revenues, the measures taken, budget consolidation, as well as reforms on the economic diversification helped reduce serious risks”, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting.

Head of IMF mission in Azerbaijan Mohammed el Gorchi highly appreciated the measures taken by Azerbaijani government to eliminate the results of global crisis. He stressed manat devaluation and other measures taken have contributed to promotion of export of goods produced in non-oil sector and called the steps taken by Azerbaijani governments successful.

Mohammed el Gorchi emphasized importance of drawing attention to banking sector in the current situation and said IMF is ready to exchange opinions with Azerbaijan’s relevant bodies, provide technical assistance to Azerbaijan and hold relevant consultations.
