Ali Hasanov: Statements of some organizations on Khadija Ismayilova
Khadija Ismayilova, a reporter for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, has been suspected of a certain criminal act and arrested under the court verdict, head of the political and public affairs department at Azerbaijan
A. Hasanov said the statement of the Prosecutor General’s Office rules out any political motive in the arrest of Khadija Ismayilova.

“Statements of some local and foreign circles and organizations on Khadija Ismayilova’s arrest are biased and baseless. And it seems like a process which is controlled from a center. I think these politicized statements are all aimed at exerting pressure on law enforcement bodies carrying out objective investigation in accordance with Azerbaijani laws,” he noted.

A. Hasanov pointed out that as a legal democratic state, Azerbaijan has fully ensured all freedoms as well as freedoms of speech and information and everyone citizen’s right to freely express their opinion: “In Azerbaijan, no journalist is arrested for their activity within the existing laws, political views, or opinions and will never be”.
