Wet wipes available at restaurants could spread bacteria
A Hygiene Council study detected unsanitary bacteria on wet wipes collected from some restaurants following microbiological tests at a laboratory, AzVision.az reports citing the Turkish media.
The wet wipes were randomly collected from restaurants and did not feature any information about their brand or ingredients. The test results revealed that the wet wipes were covered with Enterobacter and E. coli, a form of fecal bacteria.

The council warned customers to be careful about using the disposable wet wipes offered in restaurants before and after the meals. It highlighted that most wet wipes offered in restaurants are produced in unhealthy environments and do not feature any information about the producer or ingredients. Member of the board of Hygiene and Health Council physician Fuat Çetinkaya said: "The study is very important since we discovered bacteria that can cause infection in people whose immune systems are suppressed or not working properly."

Çetinkaya said following the packaging regulations of the Health Ministry`s Cosmetics Regulation is very important for public health and inform about the dangers of the products that are produced in unhealthy environments. He also stressed that production sites of wet wipes should periodically undergo microbiological tests.

The Hygiene Council, which initiates projects on health issues with its motto: "Cleaner society and life," employs food engineers, veterinarians, lawyers, academics, laboratory assistants, health care professionals and members of food and consumer associations.
