Germany initiates Georgia
The opinion about Germany’s conservative position concerning Georgia’s joining NATO is wrong, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said at a press conference in Tbilisi Dec. 8.

"If we look at it through the prism of time, of course, Germany supports the decision of the Bucharest NATO summit,” he said. “After the Wales summit, this issue advanced. The special package obtained by Georgia was put forward by Germany. Germany was the initiator. I think that everything is politically logical. I do not think that this is a conservative process."

Steinmeier paid a two-day visit to Georgia Dec. 8.
