"North Korea attempted to launch an unidentified missile from the region near Wonsan at around 5:20 a.m. [8:20 GMT], but it is presumed to have been unsuccessful," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, quoted by Yonhap news agency.
According to the statement, the fired missile could be Musudan intermediate-range ballistic missile. The South Korean military is investigating the incident.
