Azerbaijan saves around $60M on construction of drilling rig

Azerbaijan saves around $60M on construction of drilling rig

Azerbaijan`s state oil company SOCAR managed to save around $60 million in the process of construction of a new large floating drilling rig of new generation, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters June 2.

The project`s cost exceeds $1 billion. The rig`s construction will be completed before March 2017.

The drilling rig can be rented to France`s Total company for drilling at Azerbaijan`s Absheron gas and condensate field, or to BP for using in the third stage of development of the Shah Deniz field. The decision will be made till the completion of the rig`s construction.
