Azerbaijan ready to pump Kashagan oil to EU
Azerbaijan is ready to supply diesel fuel to Kazakhstan and to pump oil from Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field to the European market, KazTAG news agency reported citing Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zakir Hashimov.

“Azerbaijan stands ready to provide its transit potential for friendly countries,” Ambassador Hashimov said. “Kazakhstan also freely uses this route.”

He said the transportation of Kazakhstan’s oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to Europe was resumed this year.

“We believe that after the Kashagan field’s launch the volume of Kazakh oil transit via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan will increase,” the ambassador said.

He underscored that Azerbaijan is ready to pump this oil.

“The pipeline was meant to pump oil in the amount needed both by Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan,” the ambassador said.

Hashimov added that Azerbaijan has great opportunities to export diesel fuel and lubricating oils to Kazakhstan.

The ambassador said that in 2013, the trade turnover between the two countries totalled $371 million, and in the near future it is expected to reach $500 million.

“At the same time, there is an agreement on implementation of necessary works for the trade turnover to reach at least $1 billion,” the ambassador said.
