`Installation of monument to Garegin Nzhdeh in Yerevan `unclear`
The installation of a monument to Nazi criminal Garegin Nzhdeh in Yerevan is unclear for Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a press briefing on Friday.
She was answering the question of APA’s Moscow correspondent.

A monument to Garegin Nzhdeh, who cooperated with third Reich in revolutionary activities against USSR, was opened in Yerevan on May 28, 2016.

The spokesperson noted that Russia’s attitude towards the Great Patriotic War and glorification of Nazism is obvious. “Thus, the installation of a monument to Garegin Nzhdeh in Yerevan is unclear for us,” she said.

Zakharova recalled that in 2014, the UN adopted a resolution fighting the glorification of Nazism on Russia’s initiative and Armenia voted in favor of it.

“I think that this is the official position of Armenia,” she added.
