Baku 2015 European Games opens press accreditation process
Baku 2015 European Games has today opened the press accreditation process for next summer
Members of the press who wish to attend Baku 2015 must first register for access to the Press Extranet, Baku 2015 European Games Operation Committee said.

Press accreditation requirements only apply to members of the press. Rights-holding television and radio broadcasters should not submit requests for press accreditation.

The deadline to apply is 6 March 2015, and no further application will be accepted after that date.

In addition to accreditation information, the Extranet also has important information about the facilities and services that will be available to press during the European Games, as well as access to an extensive media library of pictures and videos.

“The inaugural European Games will be a fantastic celebration of sport that will be enjoyed worldwide, and we are delighted to now be able to formally invite global press to join us here in Baku,” Mr Simon Clegg, Baku 2015 Chief Operating Officer, said.

“I would urge all members of the press who wish to attend to submit their accreditation requests as soon as possible.”

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place from 12 – 28 June 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Eleven of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Those sports include Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Triathlon, Wrestling and Volleyball.

Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012. The Baku European Games Operations Committee (BEGOC) will organise and run the Games in co-operation with the EOC.
