UN declares June 21 International Yoga Day
The UN General Assembly has declared June 21 International Yoga Day.
The resolution co-authored by a record number of 175 countries was approved in a consensus vote at India’s initiative on Thursday. All UN member states were asked to mark International Yoga Day to make people more informed about its benefits for health.

The UN calendar has many interesting dates, including International Happiness Day (March 20), International Friendship Day (July 30) and even World Toilet Day (November 19). A section of the UN website is dedicated to special dates which number more than one hundred in the UN calendar. The UN has earlier launched an application for smart phones in six languages which keeps people informed about remarkable dates.
