Voting process is going on normally in Aghdash - PACE co-rapporteur
Local and foreign observers are observing the repeat parliamentary election in Azerbaijan
Four observers of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), including co-rapporteurs of the PACE’s Monitoring Committee Cezar Florin Preda and Belgian senator Stefan Schennach, Chairperson of PACE Committee, rapporteur on human rights in Azerbaijan Alain Destexhe and official of PACE Secretariat Bogdan Torcatoriu are observing the voting process in polling stations now.

Co-rapporteurs of the PACE’s Monitoring Committee Stefan Schennach shared his first impressions: “So far, I have visited 6 polling stations. Much work has been done for transparent and democratic election. The voting process is going on normally. Voters freely make their choice. Many local observers are also observing the voting process. Web cameras have been installed in polling stations. All these are main factors for transparent and democratic voting. The voting process is being conducted under the law. I observed that some citizens are not aware of why the election held in November 2015 in Aghdash Constituency No.90 was cancelled and why they participate in the repeat election. Some local observers do not know what they should pay attention to in the election. Besides, we observed that some voters have no enough information about the candidates”, said the PACE co-rapporteur.
