New president of International Equestrian Federation elected in Baku
Ingmar De Vos (Belgium) has been elected the new president of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) with the voting of the FEI General Assembly delegates in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Ingmar De Vos previously served as the secretary general of FEI.

Presidential candidates were Ingmar De Vos (Belgium), Pierre Durand (France), Pierre Genesand (Switzerland), Ulf Helgstand (Denmark), John Mc Ewen (England) and Javier Revuelta del Peral (Spain).

Princess of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Haya Bint Al Hussein decided this year not to run for a third term and leaves the post of president of FEI, which she has headed since 2006.

A gala evening organized by FEI and Azerbaijan’s Equestrian Federation will be held at Buta Palace on Dec.14 in the evening. A ceremony of awarding the best athletes, horse-breeders, young athletes will be held as part of the gala evening.

From 11 to 14 December, Baku hosts FEI General Assembly attended by 350 representatives of the Federation and distinguished guests from 110 countries, which is a record in the history of the FEI General Assembly.

The General Assembly of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) is one of the key events in the world of equestrian sport. It is held annually in different cities, and this year for the first time was held in Baku. The forum, which brings together representatives of all national equestrian federation, discussed and resolved the most important issues of all equestrian disciplines, funding issues, management and so on.

A gala dinner titled ‘Welcome to Azerbaijan!’ was held for the participants of the International Equestrian Federation’s (FEI) General Assembly, organized by the Equestrian Federation of Azerbaijan (ARAF). The festive evening guests were served delicious meals of Azerbaijani national cuisine.

They were also presented a concert program with the participation of folk music and mugham performers, and dance groups.

Moreover, Princess of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Haya Bint Al Hussein provided a cocktail evening for participants of FEI General Assembly in Baku.

Tours across Baku, visit to Carpet Museum, the National Flag Square, the Heydar Aliyev Center and ‘Gala’ State Historic Ethnographic Reserve were organized for the guests.
