Azerbaijan National Security Ministry prevents smuggling of 35 kg drugs from Iran
As a result of search operations carried out by the Ministry of National Security, the smuggling of a total of more than 35.5 kg of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan has been prevented.
The ministry`s Public Relations Department told that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Bunyadov Taleh Mahmud oglu, Ahmadov Ibrahim Talib oglu, and Mammadov Jeyhun Rahim oglu were detained as suspects. Large amounts of drugs – 3.097 kg of heroin and 27 kg of opium – were found and seized from them.

As a result of another search operation conducted by the ministry, Azerbaijani citizens – Ahmadov Rashad Vidadi oglu and Garayev Adil Dovlat oglu - who are convicted of drug smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan were detained. 4 kg 952.90 grams of opium were found and seized from them during the inspection.

Azerbaijani citizen Mammadov Nurali Eldar was detained as a result of another search operation carried out by the ministry. Over 500 gram heroin was found and seized from him.

The Main Investigation Department of the National Security Ministry launched criminal cases on all facts under articles #206.3.2 (smuggling of narcotics by group of persons by prior collusion, #234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (manufacture, acquisition, storage, shipment, or sale for the illicit manufacture and processing of drugs by prior collusion) of the Criminal Code. Bunyadov Taleh Mahmud oglu, Ahmadov Ibrahim Talib oglu, Mammadov Jeyhun Rahim oglu, Ahmadov Rashad Vidadi oglu, Garayev Adil Dovlat oglu and Mammadov Nurali Eldar oglu were sentenced to pre-trial detention by the court.

The investigation and operations are underway to determine other participants of the illegal acts.
