Hungary believes Azerbaijan to accept its Eximbank’s loan offer on rail project North-South
Hungary believes that Azerbaijan will accept the conditions of its Eximbank (Hungarian Export-Import Bank Plc) for a line of credit for implementation of international railway project North-South.
Hungarian ambassador Imre Laslotski stated in Baku that although the $200 million credit line has framework nature and can be directed for different objectives, its probability for financing works within North-South project is great.

"Transport corridor North-South is of great importance – the question is under discussion of the Azerbaijani and Iranian leaders and has been included in the agenda of the trilateral meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia. For its part, Hungary is ready to finance the project on the most favorable terms, and we strive prepare quickly all the necessary documents for work with Azerbaijan Railways,” Laslotski said.

In his view, it is very advantageous here that Eximbank is subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary s that simplifies joint work.

Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó said in Baku that Azerbaijan and Hungary reached consensus on the allocation of credit line for the purchase of equipment and provision of engineering services within the North-South project on the condition of Hungarian companies’ involvement in the project.
