Erdogan condemns `despicable` coup plotters
Turkey`s President Tayyip Erdogan has addressed crowds atIstanbul`s Ataturk Airport after an thwarted coup attempt by a section of the military.

Mr Erdogan said characterised those that had attempted to overthrow his government as "despicable" for directing "weapons at the nation".

"They showed blatant examples of a terrorist act. They are so despicable as to direct the weapons, bought with the means and money that belong to the nation and the poor, at this nation," he said.

He also urged citizens to "believe in ourselves", adding, "there is nothing we cannot achieve as long as this heart beats and we stand firm against them".

The president added that Turkish Airlines has resumed its flights and that despite a "small distress in Ankara.It will also be overcome"

"There is no leaving here until this situation goes back to normal. I will not leave too," he said.
