European Court of Justice removes Hamas movement from terrorist organizations
The European Court of Justice has revoked the Council of the European Union decision on including the Palestinian Hamas movement into the European list of terrorist organizations, the court said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Luxemburg court found that the inclusion of Hamas was based “not on acts examined and confirmed in decisions of competent authorities but on factual imputations derived from the press and the internet.”

The court has accepted the Hamas claim against the decision of the Council of the European Union, which updated the list of individuals, groups and organizations in late July.

Those on the list are subject to special measures on combating terrorism adopted by the Council in late December 2001. In 2003, the entire Hamas group, including its social and political branches, was put on the list.
