“We want peace in Pakistan, Afghanistan and the entire region,” Sharif added.
Sharif’s remarks came a day after a group of pro-Taliban militants stormed the Army Public School in Peshawar, going from classroom to classroom and shooting students and teachers.
The assault left at least 141 people, including 132 children, dead and more than 100 others injured, according to the Pakistani military.
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, saying it was in retaliation for the army`s continuing operation against militants in the North Waziristan tribal area that borders Afghanistan.
In June, the Pakistani army launched a major offensive against militant hideouts in North Waziristan Agency after a deadly militant raid on Karachi Airport ended the government’s faltering peace talks with pro-Taliban militants.
