He hailed the support shown by the Turkish nation to the democratically-elected government of Turkey.
He said the Turkish nation demonstrated a very high degree of political insight when faced with a coup attempt.
He said the Turkish nation proved that undemocratic manners had no place in this region.
He also expressed happiness over restoration of peace in Iran’s friendly neighboring country and said this was achieved thanks to the wise management of the Turkish president and resistance of the nation.
Stressing that Iran followed the Turkish developments closely and with high sensitivity, he said it was a comfort for Iran to hear the message by President Erdogan in early hours of the attempted coup who was inviting people to come out to streets and deal with the incident.
Given Turkey’s important position for Iran, he said, peace and stability there will enhance security in the whole region.
He said he never doubted the fact that big powers and terrorists never wanted Islamic countries to experience stability.
He said developments in Turkey were a test to distinguish between friends and foes.
President Rouhani also underlined the need for collective moves by regional countries to fight terrorism.
President Erdogan thanked President Rouhani for his phone call and said everything is in normal state at present.
He said the Turkish nation will pursue its goals even in more determined manner now.
He said his country is firmly willing to work with Iran and Russia to settle regional crises and restore peace and stability to the region.
Turkey faced a coup attempt by a number of Army forces early on Saturday.
After Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan`s call on the people to rush to the streets and the cooperation of part of the country`s armed forces, the coup failed and security was restored across the country.
Some 290 people were killed and 1,440 others were reportedly wounded in the abortive coup attempt in Turkey.
