Sargsyan urges men who seized Yerevan police station to lay down arms
Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan urged the members of the armed group, seized the building of the police station in Yerevan, to lay arms down, RIA Novosti reported July 22.
Sargsyan made the remarks during a meeting July 22 with the heads of law enforcement agencies in Yerevan.

“Hostages should be released, the armed group should lay down arms,” said Sargsyan. “The situation will further be solved exclusively within the laws and the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.”

He added that many people in Armenia are dissatisfied with their life.

An armed group seized the headquarters of the police and interior troops in Erebuni, Yerevan, July 17, demanding the release of the participant of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, coordinator of the oppositional Armenian civil initiative ‘Founding Parliament’ Zhirayr Sefilyan. He was arrested for illegally purchasing and storing weapons. The government officials are holding talks with the armed group’s members.
