Afkham said that it`s unfortunate that some western countries that abuse human rights themselves, are attempting to misuse the human right issue as a political leverage against Iran.
"Iran has repeatedly answered the claims mentioned on the resolution with documents and arguments and the UN wouldn`t has approved that if some countries hadn`t taken the biased position.
The U.N. General Assembly has approved resolutions criticizing the human rights situations of North Korea, Iran and Syria on Dec.18.
The resolution called on Iran to stop a range of abuses including torture, gender discrimination and the targeting of activists and journalists. Iran`s representative protested that the resolution doesn`t acknowledge "positive developments" since President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013.
