Five soldiers killed, eight wounded in attack in Turkey`s southeast
Five soldiers were killed and eight others wounded in an attack by PPK militants in Turkey`s southeastern province Hakkari, Anadolu reported.
Soldiers were carrying out a security check on the road near Cukurca in Hakkari province bordering Iraq and Iran when they were attacked by Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives. The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
