Government to continue policy of Georgia`s integration into Europe - Ambassador
The Georgian government remained true to its promises and continued the policy of European integration in spite of all skeptical statements, Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan Teymuraz Sharashenidze said at a press-conference on Dec. 19.
The press-conference was devoted to two year activity of the country’s government.

He said that NATO and EU stressed successful reforms in Georgia.

“The Georgian government remains true to its foreign policy approved by the population,” Sharashenidze said.

"Georgia remains true to the strategic partnership with the countries, especially with the neighboring countries,” the ambassador said. “The cooperation with Azerbaijan is developed and strengthened. The two countries successfully cooperate in the implementation of regional projects. The Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is almost completed."

“The delimitation of the Azerbaijani-Georgian border can be completed in the near future,” the diplomat said.

“A large part of the entire border has been agreed,” he said.” A small area remained. The work over it is underway.”

“A group of Georgian experts visited Azerbaijan a week ago,” he said. “A Memorandum of Understanding for the reconstruction of checkpoints on the state border was signed during the visit.”

The diplomat said that the regional cooperation in the Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey format is also successful.

“The Georgian government focused on improving the social standards of the population for the last two years,” Sharashenidze said.

The government has allocated one billion lari ($ 1 = 1.91 lari) to implement the social programs.
