Georgia awaiting confirmation on fulfilment of terms for visa liberalization
Georgia expects that at the 4th Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga (21-22 May, 2015), the European Commission will confirm Georgia
She made the remarks at a joint press conference with her Estonian counterpart, Keit Pentus-Rosimannus.

Beruchashvili said the action plan for visa liberalization consists of two parts, technical and political.

“The technical envisages the completion of two phases of the action plan on visa liberalization, which are common procedures for all countries that are included in this process,” she said.

Beruchashvili added that Georgia has a number of commitments on fulfilment of the tasks of the two phases.

“The first phase was successfully completed at this stage, and we moved on to the second phase – the phase of implementation. Our task is to fulfil all the commitments indicated in this action plan prior to the Riga summit and get a recommendation from the European Commission that Georgia is ready to receive a visa-free regime. This, of course, requires the consent of the EU,” Beruchashvili said.

She added that in this regard, it will be very important to have the support of Estonia and other countries.

“No need to hope that the decision will be made in Riga and on the second day we will be able to move freely throughout Europe. In Riga, we are waiting for confirmation that Georgia has done everything that it had to do in terms of technical parameters,” Beruchashvili said.
