Key member of Yerevan armed group arrested for 2 months
A Yerevan court ordered today a two-month pretrial detention for Pavlik Manukyan, one of the key members of “Daredevils of Sasun” armed group who was hospitalized on July 27 after getting injured during a shootout with police officers. Manukyan has been transferred to Convicts’ Hospital penitentiary.
RFE/RL’s Armenia service (Azatutyun.am) reports that since Manukyan had expressed the wish to take part in the hearing, he was today taken to court on a stretcher.

The gunman is accused of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons and of seizing state buildings, vehicles and/or communications facilities. He has denied all the charges brought against him, while his lawyer, Inessa Petrosyan, announced that she intended to appeal against the arrest decision.
