First ball valves reach Greece and Albania for TAP’s construction
First ball valves have reached Greece and Albania by truck within the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) construction project, TAP tweeted.
TAP said it will use 55 valves for the construction of the pipeline.

Earlier TAP issued a message that 14,000 pipes have already been delivered to Greece and Albania for the construction of TAP, which accounts for about 30 percent of all pipes that will be used for the pipeline’s construction.

TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan`s Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.

The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy`s south.

TAP`s shareholding is comprised of BP (20 percent), SOCAR (20 percent), Snam S.p.A. (20 percent), Fluxys (19 percent), Enagás (16 percent) and Axpo (5 percent).

A ceremony marking the beginning of construction for the project was held on Tuesday, 17 May in Thessaloniki.
