No shortage of pilots in Turkish Air Force
There is no shortage of pilots in the Turkish Air Force, the country’s Minister of Defence Fikri Isik said, HabertTurk TV channel reported Aug. 4.
He said that the earlier dismissed pilots are being currently restored to service in the Turkish Air Force.

A number of Turkish media outlets reported earlier that Turkish Air Force announced admission of military pilots.

Previously, 214 military pilots were dismissed in Turkey as part of the fight against the movement of Fethullah Gulen who was involved in the military coup attempt in the country, said the report.

Five hundred pilots were dismissed from the country’s Air Force in 2008-2014, according to the General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country. Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.

However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the death toll as a result of the military coup attempt stood at 246 people excluding the coup plotters and over 2,000 people were wounded.

Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey on July 20.
