Iran triples gas supply to power plants in autumn
Iran has tripled supply of gas to power plants in autumn this year compared to the past year.
National Iranian Gas Company’s Spokesman Majid Boujarzadeh said some 110 million cubic meters of gas has been supplied per day to the country’s power plants during autumn, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported on Dec. 21.

Moreover, 85-90 million cubic meters of gas has been delivered per day to industrial units and factories, he noted.

Some 400 million cubic meters of gas has been consumed by households and commercial units per day, he added.

The oil ministry will also supply the power plants with 40 million cubic meters of mazut, as well as 20 million cubic meters of gas oil per day during the cold season.

The Islamic Republic faced severe gas shortages last winter. In addition to cutting the gas supply to power plants, the Iranian government had to decrease gas delivery to petrochemical complexes as well as several industrial sectors including cement producing plants.
