Turkey doing everything to ensure tourist safety after coup attempt
The Turkish authorities are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of tourists in the aftermath of the failed military coup attempt, Umit Yardim, Turkey’s Ambassador to Russia, said.
On July 15, an attempted coup took place in Turkey that was suppressed the following day. Over 240 people were killed during the coup attempt and an estimated 2,000 were wounded. Ankara has accused US-based dissident Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen and his followers of playing a key role in the coup.

"We are certain that our services and departments are doing everything necessary for the safety of foreign tourists because the tourism sector, the tourism industry, is the direction to which we attach great importance," Yardim said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV.

The Turkish Statistical Institute said at the end of last month that the revenues received from Turkey’s sphere of tourism decreased by 35.6 percent in the second quarter of 2016.
