Syria downs Israeli drone over al-Qunaitera province
The Syrian air defense downed an Israeli drone plane over the southern province of al-Qunaitera on Sunday, the state-run al-Ekhbairia TV reported.
Citing a military source, the TV said the drone was downed near the town of Hadar in al-Qunaitera, which borders the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Xinhua reported.

It said the drone`s brand is Skylark 1, said the report, spelling no further details.

The Israeli air force struck several Syrian military sites over the span of the nearly four-year-old crisis without direct response from Damascus, which gives the downing of the Israeli drone its importance.

On Dec. 7, Israeli forces hit two Syrian positions in the capital Damascus, striking near the international airport of Damascus and the al-Dimas countryside, leaving property losses only, according to Syria`s state-run media.

The Israeli missiles also struck a research center near Damascus in May 2013 and another site in January of the same year.
