Law enforcement authorities should refrain from using force - OSCE Office in Yerevan
The law enforcement authorities should refrain from using force or at least reduce its use to a minimum, including during unlawful but peaceful assemblies, the OSCE Office in Yerevan told Radio Liberty, commenting on the use of special means by the Armenian police against the demonstrators in the evening of July 29 in Yerevan’s Sari Tagh district, AzVision.az reports citing News.am.
According to the statement, in the event the use of force exceeds what is necessary under the given circumstances, the law enforcement officers should be held criminally liable and subjected to disciplinary fine. The staff of the relevant law enforcement authority should also be held liable if it failed to interfere when it could prevent the use of force.
